'Jing Jin Ji' depicts the future city of Jing-Jin-Ji – a megalopolis that the Chinese government plans on creating via the consolidation of the neighbouring cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. The combined population is estimated at 100-120 million residents in an area larger than Britain, connected by integrated networks of high-speed transport and technological interfaces. Referencing Utopic maps with a holy mountain in the distance, the three cities hover in space like floating islands or science fiction tectonic plates waiting to be pieced together.
