What does it mean to be human is a universal philosophical question and in our modern times the existential enquiries into our relationship to nature has become increasingly urgent as our civilisations have extracted wealth from nature at the expense of destroyed ecosystems that has led to increases of extreme weather and inhospitable living conditions. ‘The Harbinger’ is an imaginary totem that could be read as a cautionary tale of a world bereft of wisdom or the attempt to elevate this virtue to meditate on the relationship between human activity and nature.
