“Tears of Paradise” is the title of a solo exhibition by Gordon Cheung that opened just as news of the Covid-19 pandemic was reaching Europe on January 17, 2020 at Edel Assanti Gallery in London. It was suspended during the last week of the show due to lockdown being implemented in the UK. The exhibition consisted of a large scale sculpture installation and 6 large works on canvas. Cheung’s work is about China’s largest infrastructure projects in world history, the rapid urbanisation of China and Megalopolises historically rooted within the Opium wars and invasions by Western powers.
