The Offering is a bomb disposal suit made from felt that was made to fit myself for a future performance. It is an amalgamation of a US military protective gear for diffusing bombs, Joseph Beuys use of felt and a fictional form of shamanic costume. 2 animal motifs are used with the sculpture; the bull and the bear. These 2 are symbols of the stock market that mythically are used for the way how they attack correlating to the movement of the markets; the bear strikes down while the bull thrusts up. The sculpture offers in one hand a fossilised bear claw in reference to a bearish stock market and in the other a bull horn like a sacrificial dagger. Over the chest hooked around the neck by a bull riding rope is a bull skull with a bullet hole. The felt bomb suit is accompanied with a flocked helmet and boots as if it is transmuting into an animal form. Is the offering a poisoned chalice or a gift from a saviour?
