We crossed the threshold of the millennium with the fear of computers blowing up and airplanes falling out of the sky. The fear of technological collapse was epitomised by the Millenium Bug and alongside with the idea of a sentient Artificial Intelligence eventually emerging, combined with the realisation that our dominant economic model has taken us to the brink of ecological apocalypse, we face the existential question of what does it mean to be human?
‘Technophobia’ is an exploration of the dreams and fears of technology – encouraging the viewer to take a deconstructive journey to question habitual perceptions of our existence, the world we live in, the parts we don’t see. What and who makes us fearful and for what agenda? To profoundly question our humanity is to ask what future we want to build towards.
